Dobbs named next assistant to bishop

On Dec. 2 Michigan Area Bishop, Jonathan Keaton, named the Rev. Dr. William (Bill) Dobbs as clergy assistant to the bishop effective July 1. Dobbs will succeed Terry Euper, who recently announced his retirement. "Bill has shown compassion and love for all God's children," the Bishop said. "We are blessed to have Bill’s commitment to our connection and to the growth of the church." Editor of new Area newspaper named

RJ Walters has been named the editor of the new Michigan Area newspaper. Walters will officially begin his duties on January 4, 2010. The Detroit and West Michigan Conferences announced a partnership with UMR Communications in October to produce a new Michigan Area newspaper in 2010.
