General Board of Discipleship, Nashville TN

GBOD is developing Discipleship University, a comprehensive two-year effort to engage lay and clergy teams from local churchs for the renewal of existing congregations. The curriculum includes the "best practices" of local churches. The Board is also collaborating with the Leadership Table to provide training for annual conference leaders at juridictional quadrennial events. New church start planter schools are being offered in each jurisdiction through the work of GBOD. For more: www.gbod.org

GCORR provides resources to support clergy and laypersons in cross-racial appointments. They have created a traveling exhibit that celebrates the 40th anniversary of The United Methodist CHurch in its journey to inclusiveness. For more: www.gcorr.org

General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, Nashville TN

Educational loans have been granted to 201 students through GBHEM. Another 2,431 students have been awarded educational scholarships. The Board has provided training to 250 leaders of Annual Conference boards of ordained ministry. For more: www.gbhem.org

General Board of Church and Society, Washington D.C.

GBCS has committed to being actively present in the Philippines, Africa, and Europe. Three staff and one board member were in Kenya recently facilitating a Social Principles seminar. The Board was instrumental in passing The National Housing Trust Fund, a landmark piece of legislation that will provide resources to expand affordable housing. General Board of Global Ministries, New York NY

GBGM has announced the goal of creating 400 new United Methodist churches outside the U.S. by 2012 through a fund launched by a gift from an Atlanta businesswoman. The Board has personnel, projects and partners in 136 countries and provides channels for every United Methodist to invest in these ministries with their dollars and with their time. General Commission on Communication, Nashville TN

UMCOM maintains the Church's official website. The "Nothing but Nets" campaign has been a successful collaboration of UM agencies and organizations like the National Basketball Association and Sports Illustrated. The initiative has provided mosquito nets in the fight against malaria. Other video projects, blogs and website innovations have provided tools to effectively tell the story of The United Methodist Church's efforts to make disciples and transform the world. General Commission on the Status and Role of Women, Chicago IL

GCSRW launced a survey of clergy spouses to learn the joys, concerns, and needs of persons married to clergy, in partnership with the Gen. Board of Discipleship and Gen. Board of Pension and Health. Women's Congress 2011 is in the planning stage. The focus is to bring "new-to-church" women into leadership and deeper Christian discipleship and self awareness. For more: www.gcsrw.org

GCAH entered into a close partnership with the African American Heritage Center to enable the Center to move forward in acquiring materials and developing training for African American churches in collecting and preserving materials. The Commission is moving forward with digital preservation of print materials. Local church archivsts in Mozambique are being trained.
