These seven Special Offerings that are taken in the West Michigan Conference every year:
Racial Ethnic Local Church (RELC) ... supports the ethnic ministries in West Michigan. Taken the first Sunday in February (February 5, 2012). Reported in Lane 5. bulletin insert, click here ( Additional information about RELC can be found by clicking here
Golden Cross Sunday ...up to 50% stays in the congregation to be used in ministry concerned with disabilities, aging and health care concerns. The rest goes to the Conference for the Methodist Children's Home Society, Clark Retirement Community and Bronson Methodist Hospital. Taken the first Sunday in May (May 6, 2012). UM Volunteer in Mission Awareness Sunday...Funds received from this offering will be used for scholarships for West Michigan VIMs or to assist VIM teams with their expenses. All churches are encouraged to use a Volunteer in Mission as a speaker on that Sunday. Taken on the first Sunday of June (June 3, 2012).
Rural Life Sunday ... strengthens the work of ministries in town and rural areas of concern within the West Michigan Conference. Received on our about the last Sunday of August (August 26, 2012). Reported in Lane 6. bulletin insert, click here
Christian Education Sunday ... undergirds the work to provide training in Christian education within the Conference. Taken on or about the Sunday in September (September 18, 2011). Reported in Lane 6. bulletin insert, click here
Disability Awareness Sunday October 28, 2012
Camp Sunday ...helps equip and upgrade the Conference-owned camp sites--Albright, Crystal Springs, Lake Michigan, Lakeview and Wesley Woods. Date determined by the local church. Reported in Lane 6. bulletin insert, click here
